Adoption Requirements

Potential adopters must have an approved adoption application on file.

To obtain an adoption application, a potential adopter is required to attend KAPC lectures.

Those who wish to adopt small birds (such as budgies, lovebirds, parrot lets, and cockatiels) must attend the “Basic Care and Nutrition” seminar.

Those who wish to adopt medium to large birds (such as conures, ring neck parakeets, Amazons, African Greys, Cockatoos, and Macaws) must attend at least the following three lectures:

“Basic Care and Nutrition”

"Taming, Training, and Grooming”

"Emergency Care of Ill or Injured Birds"

Adoption fees are as follows:

KD10.00   Small birds (such as budgies, lovebirds, parrot lets, and cockatiels)

KD30.00   Medium birds (such as conures and ring neck parakeets)

KD150.00  Large birds (such as Amazons, African Greys, Cockatoos, and  Macaws)

In addition, the adopter is required to reimburse KAPC for any veterinary costs the bird may have incurred.
